redroze777 asked: My Husband and I just bought our first home. We set aside plenty of money for upgrades. At this point after paint/ Appliances / Fixtures / Furniture we are at 2000$ left over.
Problem 1: Our Kitchen is super small. We have a total of 8 Cabinets. After much inspection of the current cabinets we’ve learned the pervious owner must have had custom cabinets because it looks like only the Cabinet face (Door and trim) are actual cabinets the rest is stained ply wood. Problem 2: Home depot and Loews both said they couldn’t work with us because their cabinets will not fit in the current lay out. Problem 3: We have two bi-fold (Fake) Closet doors that hold the washer and dryer and Water heater and furnace. I know if we take those out that would allow for much more space to work with. There is no other place to put the Water heater, Washer, dryer besides the garage. Our kitchen is in desperate need of a remodel! What can we do? We can’t afford to hire a contractor to do this. HELP!
Besides IKEA. We’ve tried there and just like their picture frames Their cabients come in THEIR sizes! That was a complete waste of time trying to go through them!
We’ve thought about replacing the doors but the cabinets are such ODD sizes we can’t find doors to fit. Custom doors are very expensive

That Gay Guy for Da Ben Dan asked: My parents are going to be out of town for 3 days, starting tomorrow night. They will return late Sunday. I am 17 and I am perfectly capable of maintaining the house (no crazy parties…bummer, eh?) but I need ideas for meals. I am a very good cook–even though I’m only 17 I’ve been cooking and grilling solo for 5 years, have formulated recipes and featured some in the city news (I was approached for a cookbook offer but declined) and I am catering my cousin’s wedding next month.
Anyway, I can cook pretty much everything. I really want SAVORY recipes, dinner or lunch only (I don’t like breakfasty things). I would like some recipes for pasta and sausage and fettucine carbonara, both are delicious but my recipe box has been misplaced in preparation for the total kitchen renovation next week. I also want something VERY spicy, preferably Thai food. Just a warning–I ONLY want recipes like I listed above. Feel free to list more, but if you post things just copy-pasted I will be pissed.
Mmm, thanks, that chorizo pasta sounds great!

Jasmyn asked: I bought new pulls for my old kitchen cabinet doors. The machine screws don’t screw in all the way into the new pulls, because the cabinet doors are not thick enough.
Can I put washers behind the pulls and again behind the back of the cabinet door to tighten up the loose pulls and make up for the thin cabinet door? I need to make up about 1/8 of an inch difference.
Thanks from a damsel in distress.

skinny4481 asked: I have kitchen cabinets that are 24 inches tall, the wall that I am going to put them on is the wall with the kitchen sink and is about 54 inches tall. I am just wondering what is a good height to have the cabinets above the sink to give enough room and still look good.

Emidy asked: I am going to try and help my mother remodel the house. She has decided since we use the kitchen the most, to start in it first. My mother and I have never really done any remodeling before, so I need some tips, like what to do first, and things like that.
I know she wants to get a new sink, and counter tops, along with painting the walls.
I am looking for any ideas, websites, and tips from experience.
Please help!!!!

bobsgirl550 asked: She would place salt, bread or cracker crumbs, and a dime in the box and hide it in a kitchen cabinet. When I found it (years later) I ask her what it was. A blessing so we would always have food to eat, enough spice to keep life interesting, and money in our pockets. I know my grandmother also did this when my parents moved to a new home. My grandmother was from Germany so I’m guessing it is a German Blessing. Ihaven’t been able to find anything and would love to know if anyone knows about this. Thanks
