How can I waterproof a pine litterbox cabinet?

I bought a “natural” solid pine litterbox cabinet to hold my Litter Maid Mega. It’s a really nice cabinet, but I did not realize that it was coming completely unsealed and unfinished. What is the proper way to seal and waterproof this cabinet? It’s a simple cabinet with two doors on the front and an entry opening on the side.

polyurethane. rub it on with a rag. Let it dry and rub on some more. After about 3 coats it will be sealed.
