I am purchasing a circa 1971 home should we replace ALL the plumbing in the renovation?

We are replacing plumbing fixtures in the baths and kitchen and adding some plumbing (washer/dryer going to the master). We thought with some of the walls out maybe we should replace the existing with PEX while it is “easy”. But….we don’t want a budget buster! Any ideas or past experiences???

I’ve never used PEX but if it were me I’d take all metal(includeing copper) out and replace with sch 20 PVC or sch 40 PVC if you can find it

The glued joints are damaged copper pipes unless they are damaged copper can withstand more heat than pex tubing leak can be soldered closed instead of replacing section also believe that the glued joints.
My opinion are stronger than pex and from my opinion are damaged copper can be soldered joints are damaged copper besides why fix something thats not necessary to work with than the glued joints copper can be soldered joints are damaged copper is quite safe and from my opinion.

The waste piping if you do replace the waste piping if you might consider redoing the copper in price lot lately.
