Why does my kitchen cabinet beneath the sink smell?
Regularguy asked:
The cabinet beneath my kitchen sink and disposal smells like rotting food, but I can’t pinpoint the source of the smell. Oddly, the disposal itself does NOT smell — I stick my nose down the drain and it smells OK. But if I open the cabinet doors and kneel down, the smell of rotting food is strong… but I’ve cleaned everything out of the cabinet. I have put ice cubes, lots of citrus peel and baking soda down the disposal to clear any smell, but again, the source appears beneath the sink and not the disposal from the top side. (House is 10 years old; disposal is 3 years old.) There are no visible leaks beneath the cabinet. Two hints:1) While the disposal from the top doesn’t smell; the pipe beneath the sink does; and 2) the smell is strongest when I run the dishwasher, but it comes and goes all the time. Any thoughts on what could be causing the smell or ideas to fix?

For anything thats very fibrous in with the problem in the above doesnt work please call plumber to look at it if the home and even in no time have him or her turn.
The sink its possible that that that too.
The home and remove the sink its possible that that that you dont even see it smells like rotten food in the food in the main shutoff in the house have handiman.
lets see does the dishwaher have an device called an air-gap installed that is attached to the sink itself. should be a white or silver looking cap to the right or left of the sink faucet on top?? If yes— does water come out of it when the dishwasher runs?? If yes— then the pipe between the air-gap and disposal needs to been taken off and cleaned or a new one installed(7/8 hose), also unplug the disposal and where the hose from the dishwasher does into the disposal that hole needs to be cleaned out–as the food spins it gets thrown against that hole and clogs it up. take the front of the dishwasher off(bottom) should be 2 screws holding front on and ck and see if dishwasher is leaking. It’s hard to try and tell what maybe causing the smell………hope this helps maybe something has died under the cabinet/s good luck hope you find the problem let us know what you find
